Sample the splendour of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the luxury of a chauffeur-driven bus and guided by Dr David Eaton, University of Calgary. The first stop of the field trip will be short, easy hike at Johnston Canyon, where catwalks along the sides of cliffs provide access to a spectacular mountain gorge with an up-close view of a cascading river and several waterfalls. At the next stop, a catered lunch will be served in a rustic log cabin at Storm Mountain Lodge, atop Vermilion Pass. The trip will continue west through a scenic wildlife corridor in Kootenay National Park to Radium Hot Springs, where participants can soak in the hot pools while gazing at the Redwall fault exposed in the towering cliffs, where bighorn sheep are common. On the return, viewpoints will be visited to highlight local geology, natural and human history in this area. This trip is limited to ONLY 22 people so register early to avoid disappointment! Remember to also call the hotel to ensure you have a room booked for the Friday and Saturday night!
